Detection of coronary stenoses by multidetector computed tomography: it's all about resolution.

چکیده
oninvasive imaging of the coronary arteries is fraught with reat difficulties: Most obviously, coronary vessels have mall dimensions, which requires high spatial resolution. lso, they are subjected to rapid motion because of cardiac ontraction. Sufficient temporal resolution is thus necessary o avoid artifacts. Finally, in invasive angiography, the oronary artery lumen can be selectively filled with a high oncentration of contrast agent, whereas this is not possible n noninvasive imaging. Any contrast agent given will herefore also enhance the lumen of the blood pool (e.g. the eft ventricle). This makes any form of projectional imaging iffcult and poses a severe obstacle for such attemps, for xample, the otherwise-elegant principle of dichromatic

Non-invasive coronary angiography with high resolution multidetector-row computed tomography. Results in 102 patients.
AIMS A new generation of multidetector-row CT (MDCT) scanners allows complete coronary coverage using retrospective ECG gating and 1mm slices. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential of high resolution MDCT angiography with retrospective gating for detection of coronary artery stenoses. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 102 patients underwent both conventional and MDCT coronar...
متن کاملThree-dimensional reconstruction of New Zealand rabbit antebrachium by multidetector computed tomography
The aim of this study was to reveal biometric peculiarities of New Zealand white rabbit antebrachium (radius and ulna) by means of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images. Under general anesthesia, the antebrachiums of a total of sixteen rabbits of both sexes were scanned with a general diagnostic MDCT. Biometric measurements of the reconstructed...
متن کاملNoninvasive evaluation of coronary artery bypass grafts and native coronary arteries: is 16-slice multidetector CT useful?
PURPOSE To investigate the diagnostic accuracy and limitations of 16-slice multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) in the detection of significant ( > 50%) stenosis of coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) and native coronary arteries. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred two patients with 236 grafts were investigated by 16-slice MDCT. Native coronary arteries were also investigated. The image q...
متن کاملAccuracy of MSCT Coronary Angiography with 64 Row CT Scanner—Facing the Facts
Improvements in multislice computed tomography (MSCT) angiography of the coronary vessels have enabled the minimally invasive detection of coronary artery stenoses, while quantitative coronary angiography (QCA) is the accepted reference standard for evaluation thereof. Sixteen-slice MSCT showed promising diagnostic accuracy in detecting coronary artery stenoses haemodynamically and the subseque...
متن کاملDetection of coronary artery stenoses with thin-slice multi-detector row spiral computed tomography and multiplanar reconstruction.
BACKGROUND We analyzed the accuracy of multi-detector row spiral computed tomography (MDCT) using a 16-slice CT scanner with improved spatial and temporal resolution, as well as routine premedication with beta-blockers for detection of coronary stenoses. METHODS AND RESULTS Seventy-seven patients with suspected coronary disease were studied by MDCT (12x0.75-mm cross-sections, 420 ms rotation,...
